9-Grid Folly Unique Space for Classmate @ Singapore Polytechnic Campus

Description

• Brief: Design a unique space for a classmate within the campus, starting with an envelope of 3m x 3m x 3m, which may be extended by up to 1m in any direction except downwards.

• Design Intent: The site is to be a cocoon for my user to nurture her drawing skills in a private environment, where a circulation journey celebrates her drawing process.

Challenges Faced & Overcome

• I selected the most logical sequence of spaces from the four ideas by choosing the one with the clearest and most intuitive circulation journey.

• I addressed the challenge of achieving both natural ventilation and privacy for the floating platform space by using trees as natural privacy screens that also facilitate airflow.
